What is it like being a third year student?
Busy. Exciting. Different.
More than ever I feel this year is moving at the speed of light. This week alone, on top of the many hours of reading and seminar preparation I have to complete, I have workshops and extra-curricular seminars to attend, competitions to prepare for, open days to attend, and research to complete.
While my busy schedule is demanding, I can also see the rewards I will be able to reap from continuing on the path.
I have been making connections and increasing my knowledge, not only of the legal industry and firms I would like to join, but also of legal careers I had never heard of before (such as a company secretary or conveyancer)
What has kept me motivated this week
I have found that I really enjoy all of my modules at the moment. Even with the most busy schedule I have had for my whole three years, I feel as though I am spending more time on my university work due to my increased time management and organisation skills*.
I had no choice but to improve these.
How did I?
- Time management – I started regularly planning and time blocking my days and months to ensure everything I need to get done gets done
- Organisation – I learned the true value of an organised clear system of digital notes and physical reminders.

I am enjoying the challenges this final year is presenting me and I enjoy taking my time to learn how to organise my time better, work to ever more strict deadlines, and actually prioritise work and tasks

Top tip – It’s okay to be stressed.
